Business Socialpreneur of the Week - Meet Maureen Frear

Name: Maureen Frear

Homestate: California

Company Name: SwissJust

Brief Description of Your Company:

75 YEARS OF NATURAL WELL-BEING

In 1930, from a small village nestled deep within the Swiss Alps, Ulrich J├╝strich started a company with a natural approach to well-being and health using the beneficial effects of nature in harmony with the human body. Years later, this small company would earn worldwide prestige and today Just products have gone far beyond the Swiss borders and are now sold in more than 35 countries around the world, and since 2003 in the USA.

OUR APPROACH: A BALANCE BETWEEN SCIENCE AND NATURE

Just understands that nature and the human body are perfect systems that are affected by external factors such as our lifestyle, stress, artificial chemicals and diet. Through observation and experimentation, we can discover in nature solutions to bring ourselves back into harmony and balance, to soothe our body and stimulate physical and emotional well-being.

By studying medicinal herbs and plants along with the ancient therapies related to them, Just has rediscovered in them the sources of pleasure and health. By doing this, solutions that help to alleviate everyday aches and pains and stimulate and revitalize the body’s senses were found. These solutions enrich today’s modern-day medicine and improve the lives of millions of satisfied Just customers around the world.

OUR PRODUCTS

Essential oils and natural extracts are the “soul” of a plant, possessing tremendous power and energy. As a rule of thumb, it generally requires between one and ten tons of flowers or plants to produce slightly more than a liter of essential botanical oil. For medicinal purposes, these oils may be used in their purest and most concentrated forms; however, most common uses require a diluted or blended product using other natural “carriers” in forms such as lotions, creams, salts or bath essences.

Just offers a broad range of products based on these essential oils and natural extracts. In addition to pure, undiluted essential oils for use in concentrated application such as aromatherapy, Just blends and applies these oils in products that can be grouped into the following 3 families according to their usage:

Emotional Well-Being – these products are designed to promote a general feeling of revitalization, energy, peace, harmony, relaxation and well-being by influencing moods and emotions using powerful aromas and textures.
Physical Well-Being – these products are designed to promote physical health, strength and well-being by helping to alleviate tension and discomfort caused by a variety of physical concerns such as muscular and joint discomfort, respiratory, circulatory and feminine challenges and immune system and digestive disorders.

Dermocosmetic Well-Being – these products are designed to promote the health and appearance of the skin, meeting basic skincare needs of the body, face, hands, feet and hair.

Any current sales or promotions? Our June Customer Purchase with Purchase Special .99 Pedicream 30 ml with a $70 purchase and our hostess special is a FREE Foot Care Mini Pack with $400 in guest sales and 2 bookings.

When did you start in direct sales? I started in direct sales in 2003

What is your current business challenge? My current business challenge is meeting new contacts and making phone calls because I have a 2 year old toddler that keeps me very occupied during the day :)

What advice would you give to someone just starting in direct sales? My advice to someone just starting in direct sales is to be passionate about your business and share it with everyone!

Do you belong to any business organizations or local networking groups? I belong to my local Chamber of Commerce.

Tell us about your family: I'm definitely a work from home mom. I take care of all the bookkeeping and marketing for my husband's business and have been running a party plan business since 2003... the companies may have changed over the past few years but the experience I've gained is priceless. We have a 9 year old who loves to swim on his new swim team and a 2 year old daughter who keeps me on my toes! :)

How do you balance family and business? I balance my family and business by working on my business in the morning while my son is at school and my daughter is sleeping. I always spend time in the evenings on my business when my children are asleep for the night. I'm home for my children during the day and they know that some nights "mommy is working" when I have to leave to hold parties. We also dedicate Sundays as "Family Day!"

What do you do to relax? My favorite way to relax is with a nice warm bath with our SwissJust Melissa Bath Essence or on a rare occasion... by receiving a massage with my favorite massage therapist :)

What are you most proud of? In regards to business achievements, I'm most proud of receiving a regional award for recruiting, earning 5 Dream Getaway Trips and a Mercedes Benz. Personally, I'm most proud of my children and who they are becoming!

Do you have a Facebook Page for your business? SwissJust www.swissherbalspa.com

Socialpreneur Blogger of the Week - Meet Momtrepreneur Maven

I am so happy to announce our first Socialpreneur Blogger of the Week!

I was contacted by Jill of The Momtrepreneur Maven and she is so like minded as me that I had to share her wonderful site to all of our socialpreneurs!  Socialpreneurs, momtrepreneurs, mompreneurs, we are all cut from the same frazzled, busy, mommy, networking cloth!

Now, let's get to know her a lil better, shall we?

Name: Jill Salzman

Hometown: Oak Park, IL

Name of Blog: The Momtrepreneur Maven

When did you start blogging?
Years ago, but with a different blog.

How did you start blogging?
In an effort to find a job after law school, I started up a blog about legal issues. (Can you hear the yawns?)

How did you decide on your blog name?
Great question. I really have no good answer...it came to me in the night?

How has your blog changed from when you first started?
I have revised the site quite a bit...but the content hasn't changed much since I began.

What are your three favorite blog posts?
Any of my Three Simple Tricks posts.

Who designed your blog?
The wonderful gal over at creens.com.

Do you have any blogs that you "must read"?
SethGodin.com. I know, I know, everyone has the same answer.

What have you learned from blogging?
It's like stretching after a long car ride. It allows you to exercise your writing muscle and feels real good after a long stretch.

Do you author any other blogs?
I do not. Yet.

Tell us about your family?
They're my favorite one! And best when all members of it are napping. At the same time.

How do you balance your family and blogging?
I catch blogtime in between naps and after bedtimes. I'm not sure I believe in balance anymore. More like circus juggling.

Do you have any helpful tips for a new blogger?
Do not plan to post every day and then post only every 3-5 days. Start slow. Build on it and practice...you will eventually figure out your rhythm.

Have you attended any blog conventions or events?
If so, which ones? Not yet! I hear great things about BlogHer.

Tell us one interesting fact about you that you haven't yet shared on your blog.
I like insanely awful reality television. (I feel guilty just typing that out).

Please visit Jill and give her some comment luv and let her know that you stopped by from Society of Socialpreneurs!

Oh, don't forget to stalk follow her on Twitter at @momtrepreneur!

If you are interested in being a featured blogger of the week, please contact me at teresalolvera {at} sbcglobal {dot} net.

Looking for Sponsors - Socialpreneur of the Month!

If you haven't already heard the news, Ning has decided to start charging the network creators (not its members!) for their social networks beginning July, 1st.

Rather than closing shop like a lot of networks I have seen doing, I have decided to keep our group up and running and my hope is to watch it grow.  I am reaching out to new socialpreneurs daily and have just announced free business directory listings so our membership should increase dramatically in the future.

To help pay for this site, we are currently looking for monthly sponsors that would like to be featured on our social network.  The monthly sponsor fee will be $20.00.

The monthly sponsor will receive the following:
  • Title of Socialpreneur of the Month
  • Top Placement Banner Ad on our Social Network
  • Top Placement Banner Ad on our Newsletter
  • Featured as Socialpreneur of the Month with a Question & Answer profile blog post on our Official Blog
  • Announcements sent to Social Network and on Facebook, Twitter
We are currently looking for sponsors for the following months:
  • June ~ Miri Rissotto ~ Valley of Life
  • July
  • August
  • September
  • October
  • November ~ Trecena ~ Scentsy
  • December
You may request to be a featured sponsor by contacting me directly at teresalolvera {at} sbcglobal {dot} net and let me know which month you would like to be featured.  I will not be able to reserve your month until payment is made.

Due to popular demand, we will allow more than one Socialpreneur of the Month! Reserve your month today!  Trecena of Scentsy just reserved the month of November!  Think ahead for the holidays!  Even though we will allow more than one Socialpreneur of the Month, we will not allow multiple representatives for the same company for the same month.

Please note that even though we do appreciate our loyal members, please no adult companies.  Thank you for understanding.

Featured Socialpreneurs - Miri Rossitto of Valley of Life

I wanted to thank Miri Rossitto for being our very first monthly sponsor on our social networking site, Society of Socialpreneurs ~ Where Socializing is Our Business. She has been so kind and supportive of where this network is going, I wanted to give y'all a chance to get to know her as well!

Name: Miri Rossitto

Homestate: California

Company Name: Valley of Life

Brief Description of your Company: Valley of Life is a grief resources website. It was designed to help support grieving friends and families through a very emotional and difficult time. Valley of Life offers various tools to its users such as free virtual memorials, free funeral notices, memorial gifts and flowers, and a vast directory of services.

Company Website: http://www.valleyoflife.com/

How did you get started? My Mother died in 2006. I had a newborn baby, I was caring for my elderly father and I was trying to juggle everyday tasks on top of handling all of the funeral details. It was beyond overwhelming and I didn’t want anyone else have to go through that kind of agony alone. I built Valley of Life to provide the kind of support that I could have used and the reception has been warm and wonderful.

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Local Networking Groups? Society of Socialprenuers and The Mom Entreprenuer

What is your current business challenge? My non-existant advertising budget is my current business challenge. Any and all money is marked for bills and more bills. Although when I do have a small budget to work with, it’s then trying to find the right channels to get the most from my money that becomes the challenge.

Favorite motivational quote: “If you didn’t use your back-up plan, you played it too safe.”

Please tell us about your family: I am married to the most wonderful man who has supported my dreams from the very moment that we met. He and I are blessed with two spectacular little girls who make us prouder and prouder by the moment and I couldn’t love more. I still care for my elderly father who spends his days loving and mourning his beloved wife while I like to imagine that Mom is watching over me, proud that I still include her in everything that I do. Our family wouldn’t be complete without our two lovely dogs who chose to live with us after being abandoned in the streets of Los Angeles as puppies. My family is a gift that I appreciate everyday because I know all too well how precious our time together is.

How do you balance family and business? Time management is key. Planning ahead, setting goals and being flexible is what keeps me sane. I don’t know that there will ever be a true balance but I have told myself time and time again that every goal is achieved one step at a time. So I just keep on stepping!

What do you do to relax? I am not familiar with that concept. Do Mom’s in business ever relax?! I should add that to my goals….

What are you most proud of? My daughters. I used to think that parents could take credit for their children’s successes but I realize now that those two little girls are incredible not because of me, but because they just are. And I am incredibly proud to be their mother.

What advice would you like to offer someone just starting to own their own business? Patience is key when starting your own business. Patience with yourself, patience with your family and patience with the world that will eventually embrace you. Follow your heart, never give up on your dreams and keep on stepping forward. I promise you’ll get there!

Do you blog? I have a blog on Valley of Life and I am beginning a personal blog on Miri.me.

Do you have a Facebook Fan Page? http://www.Facebook.com/ValleyofLife

Do you Tweet? Yes

What is your twitter url? http://www.twitter.com/ValleyofLife

Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself to Miri on Society of Socialpreneurs by clicking here.
